Question
How do horses and animals with a similar digestive system digest fibre and proteins?

Answer
Dear Emma,

Fiber is digested by means of bacteria that live in the horses large intestine (colon and cecum) and protein is digested in the small intestine after pepsin in the stomach breaks the peptide bonds in the protein.

Does this help?
