Question
hello ma'am, how much % of protein is present in 1kg of lucerne, 1kg bermuda grass and 1kg of timothy hay

Answer
Hi Rohit,

Thank you for your question.  The protein content of alfalfa, bermuda and timothy hay varies too greatly to be able to give you an absolute answer to your question.  The protein content of hay depends on the growing season in which the forage was grown, the soil quality in which it was grown and which cut of the season the hay is from.  To give you an example of how much protein content can vary, the average protein content for first cut early-maturity timothy hay is predicted at 10%...but I've tested the same type of hay only to find 4% crude protein.

In order to get the answer you want, you will have to have your hay tested for protein content.  Unlike grain, hay and pasture does not have a guaranteed analysis.

Thanks, Corlena
