Hobbles

I am not sure if hobbles are kind.  Taking away the horses feet seems mean to me?  Can you explain?

Rick Gore: www.freewebs.com/horseawareness, Hobbles are kind and will teach your horse to stand and to give to pressure.  If you train him correctly, you will save him in case he ever gets caught in a fence or wire.  He will know how to stand, not panic and to wait calmly for you.
