Question
blinkers and murphy blinds
blinkers and murphy bl
hello ma'am, what is the difference between murphy blinds and blinkers as both have the same effect of restricting the side vision of the horse?

i have seen blinkers in thoroughbred racing and murphy blinds in harness racing. would there be any difference?

Answer
Rohit,

I am not sure about he following, however,

I think blinkers are usually used as a pair. They allow less vision than winkers.I think they are used in both Thoroughbred and Harness racing.  They are used in racing so that the horse cannot see except in front of him. I believe Murphy blands are often used more in Standardbred racing. I think they can often be used individually, i.e. if the trainer feels the horse turns more to one side, they put the blind on that eys so that he is forced to turn his head to the front to see better. They may use a pair, but they can be adjusted individually.

I THINK this is the difference, but I will do more research to further explore this.
