Question
horse with slight white markings on legs
horse with slight whit
hello ma'am, a serious doubt. a 3 year old bay filly yesterday ran in the last race of 11 horse field and was unplaced. today, morning i had been to the stable along with trainer. horse had no leg markings for forelegs but has pastern leg markings in both the hind legs. i strongly believe that it didnt race with leg bandages. but, today when i had seen the horse personally, i have seen some kind of white markings on both the horse tendons of forelegs. i was shocked and complained immediately to the trainer. he responded irresponsibly that it has that markings by birth. i strongly believe that the horse was injured in both the forelegs. am i right?

just look at my drawing ma'am, you can surely sense it . .

Answer
Rohit,

I really cannot tell that much from the drawing whether or not the horse has natural markings or the horse has been blistered or fired.

If the horse has small while spots on his legs instead of solid white, and run in a vertical pattern alongside the tendons,  he probably has been blistered or "fired".

Blistering or firing  the legs of a horse used to be more common, (at least in the States), than it is now. It is indeed painful to the horse, and takes a bit of time to heal. In that amount of time the horse rests ans can become sound enough to race again.Racing is very hard on a horse. The breakdown rate is atrocious. I used to like Thoroughbred racing, but now have no use for it. Too many valiant horses suffer and become useless from it. '

It is all for the glory and ego of people. (my opinion).

Some say that the induced rest is  actually of more use than the actual blistering or firing procedure.
