i have a 15.2 welsh d he was a breeding stallion untill age 8 hes now 15 at age 6 he developed a clunking noise in his nearside hip, profesional help was sought and was told the hip was out at the time the hips were not level,after treatment they were, over the years ive had many people to see him and his noisey hips ,his hips are level but i can still hear it when he walks hes not lame but he doesnt feel 100% sound ,it sounds like bone knocking on bone no-one knows what it is for sure

Sounds like he has arthritis in his hips.  Not uncommon for equines used for breeding purposes.  I would suggest you check into getting him on either Adequan or Legend, both injectable forms of hyaluronic acid.  If that doesn't prove to be enough then you may want to consider having his hips injected.  Unfortunately the don't do hip replacements on horses, at lest not yet anyway! :)  Bottom line, his hip joints are wearing out, sounds like they are very dry and need some real help in the area of lubrication. He will definately be more comfortable.
