I have just bought a 7 month old appy.  I intend not to geld.  At what age can they impregnate a mare.  What do I watch out for/be concerned about.  thanks

hey, thats a good question and one that alot of people ask. I think that he is probably already at the age where you have to be concerned about that. He should be managed as an intact male capable of impregnating a mare now. He is in equine "puberty" and it could happen at any point now. Fortunately, if you live in most areas of the country, your mares are probably not cycling regularly or at all now. This is a good time to get him moved before they do and you wind up with more little equine munchkins.
