Partially paralysed bunny

Question
Over the past week my rabbit has become for the most part paralyzed.  He had full use of his front paws and it appears that he can move his hind legs; however they just fall right out from under him.  I have been bathing his lower half daily.   I began feeding him baby oatmeal through a syringe as of yesterday when he lost interest in eating his normal rabbit pellets.  He has a scheduled appointment with the vet this week and I was just hoping to get some outside insight on his current condition. I can tell you that he has visited the vet quite a few times in the past year.  His teeth need to constantly be clipped and filed back and he had a bought with fur mites which was cleared up about 9 months ago with the help of the vet.  He is Holland Lop about 6 and half years old if there is anything that I can do to help this bunny, I will do it.  Your insight is greatly appreciated.

Answer
Well, the treatment will depend on the cause of the paralysis.  Is it a spinal injury or e cunniculi?  Each has different treatments.

I have known disabled rabbits that live perfectly normal lives, but this will require a lot of effort on your part.

There is a lot of information about how to care for disabled rabbits at http://homepage.mac.com/mattocks/morfz/rabrefs.html#dis  There is also a Yahoo group for people with disabled rabbits.

Keeping him eating and drinking throughout whatever treatment he is on is key, as is providing companionship if he desires it.

Good luck, these can be difficult situations but it can be very rewarding to see your bunny happy.
