Baby Rabbit Leg Problems

Question
Our Thriantra rabbit just had a litter a few weeks ago.  All of the babies died except one.  The kit is now 3 weeks old but its legs are always out to its side instead of underneath it.  It looks like a bean bag rabbit.  Instead of hopping, it scoots around with all four legs out to the side.  It looks fat and we believe this is because it is the only survivor and getting all of mother's milk, but I am wondering if something is wrong with the legs.  Have you ran across this before?  Thank you.

Answer
Hi Gail,

it maight be that this little one has some neurological or muscular/skeletal problems.  I'd take her in to the vet for a proper diagnosis, and also because there may be time to correct it partially or fully.

If you don't yet have a good rabbit vet go to:

www.rabbit.org/vets/vets.html

and find a House Rabbit Society-recommended vet in your area.
