Question
I have two dwarf rabbits,  can they have too much timothy hay?  i am afraid to feed them too much food because i heard they will die faster.  help me please  i need as much information as i can get lol.

Hi Kristy,

you can not feed any type of rabbit too much timothy hay.  Rabbits are designed to eat grass hays and timothy hay.

Rabbits need hay over anything else.  They can live just on hay, if that is all there is.  They need it because it is high in fiber, which keeps their gi tract moving.  It helps push hair through the gi tract.  They cannot cough up a hairball like a cat, so they need to get the ingested hair from grooming through them, and only long fiber hay can do this.

My advice is to go to the House Rabbit Society web site and search their article database for "nutrition" and "diet".

Also, pick up the books I recommend as they have great info on diet and a lot of other vital topics.
