I read somewhere on internet that if he starts digging on the floor it means he is sick... but he always digs, not on the floor, but on us... is he way of playing so im very confused! Can you help me? itried finding some pig lax but i cant find it since im living in China...  THANK YOU!

Answer
When piggys get constipated, there's a possibility of an internal blockage which will require veterinary care and possibly surgery. But most of the time, it's just temporary.

Plain canned pumpkin is considered the best home remedy laxative for piggies. Also, for pigs that are not used to riding in a car, a short ride can help. It has something to do with the vibration of the moving vehicle. However, pigs that travel by car a lot get used to it, so for them, it's not so effective.

It's important that piggy stays well hydrated. Put extra liquid in his food, by soaking his piggy pellets or giving him wet vegetables. Yogurt is very good for all sorts of digestive problems. So if you can find yogurt, or the Chinese equivalent, that might help.

Some people have successfully used products made for children's illnesses on their pigs. But, I am not a veterinarian and I have no personal experience doing this. Another concern is that your pig is just 2 months old, so probably weighs less than 10 lb. There might not be any products safe to use on a piglet that size. But if you want to try, let common sense be your guide. Weigh your piggy, find a product that has dosage directions for a child that small, and follow them. An enema designed for infants might work, if one is available.

The digging is natural and does not indicate pain. Pigs in the wild find most of their food by digging with their snouties, your baby is just practicing his natural pig behavior. He is doing it on you, because he'd do the same thing on his mother's belly to encourage her to produce milk.
