Answer
There are several ways to sex baby rats, and most of the time it's fairly straight forward.  One way to tell (though they may be a bit old for this now) is to see which ones have nipples.  Nipples only appear on female rats and will show up as small circles without hair.  Male rats do not have nipples, so if you see any little dots on their bellies that don't have hair you will know it is a female.

The second way is by anogenital distance, which is the distance between the anus and the genital papillae (the little bump that sticks out where the vagina is in the female and the penis extends in the male).  If the distance is long, the rat is a male.  If the distance is short, it is a female.  The best way to do this is to compare the rats' bums side by side and you will be able to see if they are different lengths.  If they are all the same, all your rats are the same gender.

Once the rats get a bit older you should be able to see testicles on the males, and obviously the females won't have any.  Here are some website that may help you further.  Good luck with your rats!
