Question
My dog tried to kill my rat today. Fortunately, I'd wired the cage to the base so he couldn't get in contact with my little bluey. However, the cage was knocked to the floor and she's pretty banged up with a partially skinned tail and one, possibly more, injured paws. Should I give her time on her own to see if she's okay? Or should I take her to the vet to have her checked out?

We love love her a lot and she spends tons of time on our shoulders. Any advice would be helpful.

Thanks,
Arlene

Answer
Unless she begins rolling, head-tilting, or spinning circles (or showing other signs of obvious distress, wheezing, sneezing, etc.) I'd just let her be for now. She might be a little shocked but unless anything is NOTICABLY broken, a vet can't do much for you other than observe. Just keep her comfy. She'll probably be fine.
