Question
Norman is 7 months old, and has always been quite a bit smaller than his brother. in the past week or so, i have noticed he has been losing weight, but didnt really think anything of it. he is a big eater, and drinks fine still. usually he is all excited and comes right to the cage door to get held when i walk past. today i noticed that he was still sleeping in the bottom of his cage, reached in to get him and realized he has lost a ton of weight just in the last two days.

He is sleeping on my belly right now, his favorite place, and has hardly any strength. i gave him some dog food (his favorite treat) and he just nibbled on a piece and fell asleep with it. i offered him some water, he took a couple little sips and was no longer interested. please help... i dont know what else to do. this is my baby rat....i have had him since he was 4 weeks old (he was in the snake cage to be eaten at a friends house and i reached in and grabbed him, i even got bit by the snake to save his life)

this is just killing me watching this. poor little baby :(

Answer
This sounds pretty serious.  He should see a vet as soon as possible.  He is probably dehydrated which is why he appears to have lost weight.  Do you have a vet for him?  I would try to get him in tomorrow if not tonight if possible at an emergency clinic that sees exotics.
