Question
is it posible to incubate then hand feed a macaw egg

Answer
Yes it is possible IF you have the right equipment. You have to be a VERY experienced handfeeder in order to PROPERLY handfeed day 1 chicks. I myself would personally rather leave it up the parents, they are MUCH better and incubating and feeding the chicks at a young age. Plus the success rate of incubation of chicks is much lower than that of the parents incubating the eggs.

You have to make sure you have a well working incubator, with an egg turner would be beneficial, as well as a GOOD brooder.

There are other things you can get as well to up the formula for day 1 babies, things such as pedialyte, but I would do some research on the net. There are tons of sites on handfeeding, day 1s too, as well as recipes for add-ins to formulas. Usually adding things isn't a good idea, but there are many commercial add-ins that are VERY good for a growing baby!

Take care,
Sarah
