mice compatability

Hi!I was wondering if I could put 2 mice togeather.The pet store says I can't,and a website says maybe.This place has been reliable,so I was wondering if you could tell me.

Dear Maddie,

Two male mice will almost certainly fight, possibly to the death.

Two female mice will probably get along after a period of adjustment.  Dab their chins and rears with a tiny bit of REAL vanilla essence before putting them together in a neutral environment (clean cage).  If one is a lot bigger than the other but neither is a tiny baby, put the bigger mouse in a cage where the smaller one has been living by herself for two days.  Expect chasing and squeaking, but separate the two if there is bloodshed.

A male and female will get along only too well.  If you aren't breeding carefully and separating your pups in time, you could have hundreds of mice in a few months.
