Question
QUESTION: So yesterday i bought a pinkie mouse for my salamander to eat, and he was not hungry at all, my pet mouse moomoo had a litter about a month ago and her babies have been without her for 2 weeks, since my salamander wouldnt eat the pinkie i put it in moomoo's cage. She took it to her nest, and has been caring for it, but is her milk dry? Also could caring for that baby stimulate her to lactate?

ANSWER: Dear Lisa,
thank you for your question.
You need to feed the baby every two hours, with kitten or puppy formula. It's possible that Moomoo will be able to produce milk, but it will take a while if it happens at all.
Here is a good guide to raising orphaned mice:

Since Moomoo has accepted the baby, it's probably best to leave it with her and just take it out of the cage to feed it.
I hope I was of some help to you
Jennifer

QUESTION: Thank you so much, also i checked and moomoo is producing milk, so should i just feed the baby twice a day

Answer
Dear Lisa,
I'm glad to hear that she's already producing milk. In that case, you can probably leave everything to her. Keep an eye on the baby to make sure it gets enough milk, though, and if it doesn't, it's better to feed it several times a day (depending on how old it is).
