pink discoloration

Question
I have a 15+ year old iguana who is experiencing some pink discoloration on his front left foot. It covers his entire foot up to the ankle and it appears to be moving up his leg very slowly. Also there is a very small amount of the pink discoloration on his back left foot, but only on a part of his middle toe. I dont believe it is him shedding, as that usually starts on his head/back and he just finished. We just put him in his outdoor enclosure, which he stays in for the majority of summer, twenty-four hours a day. He is eating normally, and it hasnt been long enough for him to have bowel movement. I am worried, because he rarely has any problems, but he is getting old, and I have read that discoloration is often the result of fungal/bacteriall infections. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Answer
Hi Daniel,
I suggest getting him to a vet for a skin scraping.  There has been a huge increase of a very nasty fungal infection called CANV (Chrysosporium anamorph of Nannizziopsis vriesii).
Without knowing if it is a fungal infection or what fungus, I can't offer any suggestions as to what to try because only certain treatments can be used for certain fungi and using the wrong treatment can actually cause some fungus to spread.
