Hamster with a tumor

Question
Hello,
I have a female dwarf hamster who has a tumor in between her legs...I think it may be on her breast, but I'm not sure.  I took her to the vet once before, and they told me just to monitor her, and when it starts to get worse to bring her back in.  This was when it first appeared, about 3-4 months ago.  It was a light color (the color of her skin) and about the size of a Skittle then.  Well, now it is red and about the size of a small grape.  She is still eating and drinking and running on her wheel, although her running is getting slower.  She is also blind in one eye (if not both) and drinks a lot of water (I think she may have Diabetes).  Would you recommend that I take her to be put to sleep?  or should I just wait it out a little longer?  I just can't stand the thought of her being in pain...

Answer
Your hamster sounds like she has a lot of health problems which are probably due to old age.

I think the kindest thing to do is to let her be put to sleep so she doesnt feel any more pain.

Sorry to hear about your situation.

Regards,

Tammy
