New ferret/dog sprays

Question
We have a six year old miniature poodle who is potty trained. Since we have gotten the ferret (2months now) he has pooped and peed inside the house whenever we have her out. They have sniffed each other and chase one another back and forth, but the ferret will hide under the bed or where the dog cannot get her. The dog will whine and spray dark colored pee or will poop on the carpet! Should I keep the ferret in one room of the house and just play with her there? It doesn't seem fair that she doesn't get as much exercise as my dog.

Answer
This sounds like a dog issue rather than a ferret issue as the ferret isn't doing anything wrong.  The dog may be overexcited so taking time one-on-one to introduce then to each other, under supervision may help.  You will have to watch how your dog behaves so that you can encourage him to urinate outside before playtime and occasionally take him out when the ferret is out, rewarding him for appropriate play and not urinating.  I wouldn't ever recommend leaving them unsupervised since the dog could hurt the ferret, especially if he thinks the ferret is either a toy or food.  If you carefully supervise them, then you should be able to monitor appropriate play and potty behaviors.
