Question
I rescued a greyhound 1.5 years. She has been shy from the start. She likes people and is well socialized with other dogs but when we are home she spends 95% of her time in another room. She very rarely seeks affection but takes it when given and seems to enjoy it. Dogs are pack animals, should I be concerned that she like to spend so much time alone?

Answer
Hi Donna,

Since she appears well socialized, I wouldn't be worried. You must remember that dogs have a different concept of boundaries then humans. In your dog's mind, being in another room does not represent being away from her pack. I assure you that your dog detects your scent from the other room.

If it makes you feel better. Have her remain in the room with you on a down. I'm sure your dog will be just as comfortable being in the same room with you.

Good Luck!
Sandy
