Daschund with aggression

Question
I have had my little 6-year-old fixed Sasha for about 5 days. She's great most of the time, but she has a habit of trying to bite my brothers (all teenagers). She acts like an angel toward my sister and myself. They let her sniff their hands and then try to pet her, but she just growls and/or bites at them. She has bitten only one brother. This is strange considering that the vet that was taking care of her was male. Please help me!! My dad says that if we don't fix this problem soon, we will have to return her. If you suggest that my brothers start giving her treats, that's bad for her digestive system. She is on the W/D diet. Thank you for any suggestions.

Answer
Cecilia,

Having an older dog for just 5 days, I wouldn't say she has aggression. Some things I would need to know to help you. Where did she come from? Do you know her history since she is an older dog? That is what I would
be looking into first. Sometimes it takes an older dog time to adjust into a new family, I would suggest that you sit down with your family members and let the dog come to all of you with out trying to touch her. Letting her get to know you on her terms is better and more reassuring for her.
Even on the W/D diet you and your vet can find something suitable to give her as a treat.
Another suggestion is to get the family involved in some training with her.

Hope this helps
