Male puppy

I have been thinking of getting a male chihuahua puppy. Is there any way to prevent him from lifting his leg to pee inside on the furniture, etc.? I have been told if he is neutered by 3 months this could be prevented. Is this true? Thanks for your help.

Hi Jo.  Kudos to you for making an informed decision before bringing a puppy home!  It's been my experience that male dogs that are neutered before adolescence (7-8 months) do less leg-lifting to urinate.  My only caution with that statement would be that if the dog is in a house where males have lifted their legs before, it might prompt that behavior from the new dog.
