Question
Hey I have emailed you many times in the past few years and I'm sure you will remember me! I have been under great debate on getting a fourth dog for the past 2 years and have concluded I do want another preferibly another Labrador retriever, My question is below.. I am now working full time monday to Friday 9-5/9-6 and occasionally a few hours on the weekend....my mother stops by and lets my current dogs out to potty and feed them during my work and I do two 15-25 minute walks per day with them plus fetch when theres time, I also wrealse with my dogs, spend time chilling out watching tv, sitting in the yard and going for car rides...I really love my dogs. What I was wondering if can I expect to leave this puppy in a puppy pen or large crate when I'm at work or lock it in the kitchen? I wasn't working at all when I got my first lab so she wasn't never left for long periods. Another quick question do I walk a lab as a puppy? I don't recall doing much walking with my lab when she was small but that was probably my error. Thanks

Answer
Most of the time when you are not there,if the puppy is in a grate he/she will mostly sleep,so I think a lab will do fine as they don't tend to be needy like a number of breeds, but are happy when they see you-puppies can adjust just fine so i think it will be ok

Now as for training the new puppy to walk, the best way is at first just go on short walks, not even around the block just down a few houses-and if he/she pulls quickly turn and walk in the other direction and say 'heel'
