Question
Our 2 year old male sheltie seems to be getting more aggressive, sometimes snipping then immediately becoming affectionate again.  Is this common or a sign of a possible behavorial problem.

Thanks,
Kevin

Answer
Hi Kevin,

There are two possible motives that I can think of for this behavior.  First is the Sheltie need to herd, and he uses nipping to accomplish this.  Second is that if he isn't fixed yet, he may be too aggressive due to hormones.

If he hasn't got one yet, give him a task or a job that he likes.  Mine play frisbee, fetch the ball and nip the cats when they jump up on the kitchen counter.

If he isnt fixed read this: these tasks won't change his aggression.  If you are not a professional breeder I do not recomend that you try to breed.  Too many horrible faults in gene lines are continued by good intentions blended with a lack of knowlege.

Hope that helps... let me know if you have any further questions!
