Question
Can a German Shepherd begin to dislike children or act aggressive towards children as a result of their yelling or noise (sounds associated with their playing)

Thank you in advance for taking the time to answer my question

Answer
Many dogs are sensitive to small children.  They are often fast moving, loud, and shrill.  Many dogs don't do well around children if they had little exposure to them before 12 WEEKS.  Shepherds may be more likely to have problems than some other breeds.  In order to help with the problem, more details would help.  The key to most behavior problems is approaching things using the dog's natural instincts. Dogs see all the people and dogs in the household as a pack with each having their own rank in the pack and a top dog. Life is much easier if the 2 legged pack members outrank the 4 legged ones. You can learn to play the role of top dog by reading some books or going to a good obedience class. A good obedience class or book is about you being top dog, not about rewarding standard commands with a treat. A good way to start might be exposing the dog to one or 2 quiet children.  having them give it treats would help, and just calmly petting the dog.  Then work up to more activity, perhaps throwing the ball for the dog, and more children.
It is sad many breeders that do everything to insure a physically sound dog, neglect socilization.  This link may help you understand the problem, http://www.akc.org/enewsletter/akc_breeder/2008/winter/puppy.cfm
