Question
My family and I are seriously looking at puppies and are wondering if a Cockapoo is the right breed for us. We know they are known for good temparments and no sheddig but some people have had bad expeirences with this type of dog. Mainly nipping and biting and being over excited.

Answer
Hi Michaela,
Is this your first dog?  If you're nervous about getting "exactly" the type of temperment that would suit you, I'd suggest an older dog.

Are you prepared for the time & energy that goes into feeding and training a new puppy?  All puppies are in a perpetual state of "excitement" and need constant supervision.  They'll eat or chew "anything" and just generally take a lot of attention.

As for your question about this mix of breeds - anyone can have a bad experience with any dog.  Mostly it's the owners' fault and a lack of training.

Would you consider adopting maybe a year old dog from a shelter or a rescue?  That way all the housebreaking is done and you can tell instantly what temperment you're dealing with.

Whatever you do, do NOT buy a puppy from a pet store.
They are the product of horrifying puppy mills and usually have multitudes of health problems.

If you go the Rescue route, they'll have all the dog's documentation.  Or find a reputable breeder.
