Golden Cocker Spaniel

I have just purchased the most wonderful puppy, he is KC registered as a golden cocker spaniel, however my question is: his colour is quite red and short haired with a little white patch on his chest and paws, the book I purchased does not show any dog like him I just wondered as to what type he maybe? The springer seems a shorted haired dog perhaps he decends from them?

Hi Andrew im really no expert on colours, i know golden can be really dark red or really quite light as for the patch of white on his chest that is completely acceptable, his hair will be short at the moment especially if he is a working cocker show cockers tend to have longer fur as pups, but his fur will get longer with age, so dont worry, but as i say im no expert, you can check on the Cocker Spaniel website that is full of useful information, sorry i cant be more helpfull.
