skin care

Question
my dog joie had fleas.gave her baths.but now she has very flaky skin with an odor.i got her from a lady that i took care of she has passed on.is there anything i can do at home .like mix up somthing to put on her skin.to save me money.

For skin problems, cut out the baths.  Try some of the once a month creams or drops to control fleas.  I have had fairly good luck with some of the over the counter products from Wal-Mart or even Big Lots.  Makes sure most of her calories come from a commercial dog chow.  Most dogs will thrive on any tested using AAFCO methods.  With some of the cheaper ones, you may need to add a teaspoon of ordinary liquid cooking oil.  Brush her daily with a soft bristle brush.  

For odor, check her ears.  Clean up excess wax using water with some vinegar in it.  It that doesn't help, she may need antibiotics from the vet.
