Question
Hello
I have a cocker 15 years old.
My cocker's right leg has suddenly started to tremble a lot and he walks with slight difficulty and sleeps too much.
7 days ago we have moved away from home and he is away from a person that the dog loves him very much. is it, by any chance, that his illness is due to melancholy? please some help.. thank you very much

Answer
Hi Andrew,
Please take your old boy to the vet.  Although it's pretty natural for very old dogs to sleep a lot and have some trouble with mobility, there's a lot that can be done to make them more comfortable.

Have you been having semi-annual Wellness checks done on him?  Has he been on a glucosamine supplement?  How is his appetite?

Even at such an advanced age, he still needs short, slow walks every day.  Just a little 10 minute "outing" twice a day is good for him.  Let him dictate the pace.  Doesn't matter how far or how slowly he moves.

And yes, he could be missing someone but these symptoms don't match up with that.

He needs a full workup by a vet.  If the vet thinks some pain relief would help...don't get Rimadyl.
