Riley 8 year old Cocker Spaniel

Question
Riley has developed skin rashes, blacked skin, ear & eye infections over the past 2 years. She has taking Zeniquin for the past 5 months to kept the skin irritations becoming infected, thyroid meds since May and now antifunigal meds for the next 30 days to see if that helps along with benedryl twice a day and hexadene baths 3 times a weeks which aren't helping her anymore. She is groomed every 4 weeks to her coat short. She currently eats Purina Little Bites and Beneful pasta carrots & spinach mixed in. We are both totally frustrated. I seems that with very new medication she seems to get worse. Even the benedryl is not as effective as it was. I really don't want to place her back on steroids again. Any ideas PLEASE

Answer
Zeniquin is an antibiotic that has/can have a ton of awful side effects.  There are better meds - like Simplicef - for this.

Cathie, I think I can help improve things and would like you to write me personally (send your original email) at DeeBeck7765@aol.com

And include a detailed description of her skin.
