Bichon not eating

Question
Hi I was wondering if you could help. I have just bought a 9 week old bichon boy. on the first day we had him he loved his food and ate everything we put down, however he got an ear infection on the 2nd day which we are now treating with ear drops from the vet. Since getting this ear infection 3 days ago he has completely gone off his food (which is the same food the breeder was using and he was used to eating). Everytime we put his food down now he will sniff it and eat a tiny amount and that is it. He is also drinking far less than he used to. I know it could be in connection to his ear infection and now this is clearing up he might go back to normal but I am slightly concerned especially when it comes to the decreasing amount of water he has drank.

Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hi there I do understand your concern and yes this will be related to the ear infection.Firstly do you recall what it was like when you ever had one, the jaw aches and the appetite is suppressed. What I would do is get some Skinners puppy Milk in and mix accordingly or go to ASDA. TESCO, MORRISONS and buy some Delamere puppy Milk it is rich in goats milk and it is what we use here for both sick or pregnant dogs even abandoned pups. Also use foods rich in Vit B as they stimulate the appetite. Or just use goats milk its a good source of fat and vits for all dogs.
It may be a good idea to start now with a raw food diet for the dog , as it is possible that your little one will be susceptible to ear infections and allergies after having one at such a young age.
