Swimming Beagle

Question
Today I took my beagle to a park and we saw a lake, where another dog (border collie) was playing fetch in and out of the water.  My beagle began to play with him as well, and she loved the water.  She didn't mind swimming and jumping all around.  I just wanted to know if this was a bad idea for her to do it again because from what I have read Beagles get a lot of ear infections.  Should I not take her anymore?

Answer
I am so sorry to be so late answering this, my system went down and I had no way to get online until now.

I don't see any problem with letting your beagle play in the water as long as it is something she wants to do. Just be sure to dry her ears out thoroughly with a soft cloth or cotton and maybe keep them flapped back for a while to get air. This is really important or she will get the ear infections. You might also ask the vet if there is something you can put in her ears before hand to help repel the water.
