dog rolling on my husbands side of the bed

Question
My dog, Sammy, is 7 yrs old, a mix of black lab, pit bull and shar pei. Sam is a spoiled dog, he is a couch potato and sleeps at the foot of our bed. My question is that within the last year it seems that when my husband gets out of bed Sammy can't wait to start rolling, grunting and tail is a wagging. He seems to be in his glory. Why does he only roll on my husband's side and not mine. I'm the one who feeds, baths, gives him his medicine, treats, lets him in and out, gets up with him at nite when he bugs me to go out, etc.

Answer
Hi Karen, It sounds like a pack order thing for Sammy. You are his Alpha dog, then comes your husband, then comes Sammy. When your husband leaves the bed, Sammy is delighted because he is thinking, "Mommy Alpha, Sammy, then Dad, YIPPEE!"  He is in his glory rolling around next to you. So enjoy every minute of it with him. Hope this helps. Leave me some feedback and write back if you need more explanation. Thanks. Regards, Susan
