Needy dog?

For the past two days my 5 year old border collie has been acting very "needy."  He doesn't want to leave my side, follows me around, wants to constantly lay in my lap or right by me.  When leave the house to go to dinner last night, he ran out to the car twice trying to get in.  This is unlike him.  He is acting very nervous and like he does when he knows he did something wrong.  However, I can't find anywhere that he messed up in the house. What could be causing this behavior?  Thanks so much.

It could be one of two things. Either some recent change in the household or a medical condition. If the behavior is due to a recent change in the household (in the last 3-6 mos.) I can give you some tips on what to do. If it's a medical condition, you'd need to speak to a veterinarian.
