Lab puppies playing too rough

Question
Hi! I have two lab puppies, they are sisters, 9 weeks old, I had them for almost two weeks now. One is the runt of the litter, they both play rough but since one is bigger than the other I am affraid the little one cannot defend herself. The big one hurt the little ones ear over the weekend while they were playing, it was bleading quite a lot, and yesterday I saw the other ear had also been hurt, I believe they are just playing but their teeth are so sharp they are hurting each other, I don't know how bad this can get and I cannot watch them all the time. I do not want to keep them separated but I don't want them to get hurt either. Please let me know what you think. Thanks!

Answer
Hi Analia,

No one fights like family!! Separating them daily is actually really good for them. That way they can develop into their own little beings instead of one 8 legged dog with one dog spending their lives with the short end of the stick.

It is perfectly OK (and encouraged) to interrupt play to limit their rough play. Ears bleed a lot! They are still sorting out how to use their mouths without going too far. Keep them separated when you cannot supervise them for now.
