Staring concern

Question
A while ago I met my boyfriend who has a very nice pitt bull named Rocky. Rocky is 9 months old. When first meeting rocky I never had an issue with him, he was always friendly and greeted me. In fact he would lay on me b/c truthfully he's a big lap dog. Anyway, Rocky and my boyfriend always slept in the same bed, when I started staying over and eventually moved in, rocky had to go on the floor b/c he liked to sprawl out and I'd end up with a paw in my face in the middle of the night, haha. I told my boyfriend that I think it's upsetting rocky and hurting his feelings. Rocky never showed any agression over it, but you could just tell he was upset over it. He eventually got over that though, I think. Anyway, I started playing more with Rocky and got some treats and practiced sit and paw with him and stuff like that and I think he pretty much got over me being there and understands that he's not being replaced. Okay, i just wanted to give some history to it, my question is though he will follow me a lot and just sit and stare at me, and he did this in the beginning too. But he mainly stares at me when I will go in the bathroom and wash my face and brush my teeth and things to that nature, and I see him in the mirror sitting in the doorway staring at me. Is this a sign of dominance? Is he trying to challenge me or he still looks at me as a threat/imposing on him and my boyfriend, or is he just curious as to what I'm doing? He just got neutered a couple days ago and I took him and picked him up and now ever since that he is like clung to my legs following me in every room. He is right here at the computer with me sitting with his head on my leg staring at me, haha. I don't know if I should be creeped out by this, or maybe it's b/c he's still not feeling all that well from the surgery, he is wimpering some :(, but  my boyfriend is here too and it's his dog so wouldn't rocky feel more close with him? I'm just very confused by this behavior as you can tell, and just don't know if I should be worried or if I should do something when he does this. So any light into the situation I will really appreciate. Thank you for your time.

Answer
The dog most likely perceives the boyfriend as being higher ranking because most men relate to dogs very differently from women and thereby obtain higher rank.  The dog is probably clinging to you because you have "rescued" him from the recent trauma of being in the veterinary clinic.  Most likely, he is sticking to you like glue and his observations of you in the bathroom are related to his need to be close to the most recently perceived higher ranking member of the pack.
