Question
I have the opportunity to get a male 3/4 minature pin and 1/4 mini daschund, he is 18 weeks old, we have 4 kids 10, 10, 9, and 4, and we also have a 2 yr old male lab/mix dog who is very gentle with our kids but does not like other males other than myself entering our property and our home.  He is great with any female though.  My question is how is this little dog going to act around all the commotion and other dog, and how will my other dog react to him being here.

Answer
To be honest, I don't feel that this mix is a suitable one for small children, although if you have a quiet household, your older kids might be ok with it.  Min Pins and Doxies have been known to be intolerant of children.  I think that you answered your own question with regard to your other dog. He doesn't like males, so my advice is not to get one.  While you might be successful at introducing a very young puppy, say 8 weeks old, in to your home, I think that a puppy of 15-16 weeks old might incur a poor response from an older dog that isn't keen on males.
