about my dog

i have a cairn terrier. i wanted to know if she is a like a hunting dog or something along those lines? is she always going to be so hyper?

BEFORE acquiring a dog, or any first generation (visible) mix, one has to do one's HOMEWORK.  Go to the AKC site for the Cairn Terrier.  There is ample description of this breed, its behavior and any inherited health problems.  While you're educating yourself, learn about positive reinforcement training by going to Karen Pryor's web site; read Patricia McConnel Ph.D.'s books on training and dog ownership; read John Fisher's books; read Jean Donaldson.  This is not a stuffed animal. You have a considerable responsibility to understand your dog and interact with it appropriately.
