dog urinating in house

Question
I have had my dog for 1 yr. and 2 mths.  He was 2 mths. old when I got him.  Lately(last month or so) he has been urinating much more that just an occasional accident in the house. I can take him out and he will come in and urinate on the bed or pillows/comforters(not just in 1 room or spot). Does he have some kind of urinary infection? Boo is a male terapoo who is not neutered.  Whould this help?

Answer
Dear Tracy,
Thanks for the questions. If this represents a change in behavior, then it is very likely to be a medical issue. First take Boo to your vet to rule out or identify any medical contributors to the problem.

Neutering a male dog will reduce marking behavior - if it hasn't gone on for too long. If the behavior has been occurring for months, then neutering will not be effective for reducing marking behavior.

If Boo was never completely house trained, you should begin as if he were a pup. Visit my web site http://www.howsbentley.com and sign up for the mailing list to get your free house training guide. Or buy the book, Puppy Primer by Patricia McConnell.
