Question
I own an unregistered yet purebred Blue Heeler. She has some mental issues it would seem. She dislikes fences, garden hoses, electrical cords, and things of that nature. She will tear them into tons of smaller pieces. She hates other animals and has mood swings that are unusual even for females. She also has difficulty with balance for instance she cannotstand or sit to scrath a flea she has to fall and roll over to do it. She cannot go down stairs with out assistance either. Do you have any idea what could be the problem. Our vet said he thought she would grow of of it but as yet she has not she is 9 months old. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Answer
I'd be seriously asking my vet for a referral to a good veterinary neurologist. She sounds like she has some pretty significant physical problems. When was the last time your vet saw her? If she was a baby puppy, being uncoordinated might be explainable but not at 9 months. She needs a complete physical and neurological evaluation. Sandy Case BFA, MEd CPDT www.positivelycanine.com
