Question
what does it mean when my 9 month female dog is bleeding in its private??

Answer
An outside possiblity is that she has a bladder infection or other health issue. But, assuming you haven't had her spayed, the most likely reason is that she is "in season" (heat, estrus) Which means she will be breedable and you need to carefully supervise her for the next 3 or so weeks. Don't leave her in the back yard, go out with her, keep her in the house (you might want to go to your local pet store and get some "britches" so she doesn't leave blood on the carpet or furniture. If you don't keep her confined and supervised, it's likely that in a little over two months she will be presenting you with a litter of goodness-knows-what mix of puppies. As soon as she is out of season, you'll want to talk to your vet about the best time to get her spayed, so you don't have this bother again! Sandy Case MEd CPDT www.positivelycanine.com
