Question
Hi.  I have three boxers.  The first and oldest Sadie is 5yrs old, the second is Jackson who is 2yrs old, and the last pup Sydney is 1yr old.  Sadie has been beating up on Sydney ever since we got her.  We have tried everything to try to get her to stop.  Sadie will not let Sydney eat or sleep with her and Jackson in the same area.  When we pour Sydney out some food separately in a different place, Sadie will try to attack her and will not let her eat at all.  I am really worried because I don't know what to do.  Please help me.  Thanks

Answer
Hi, Lacy,

Thanks for the question. I have a few of my own:

How old was Sadie when you got her? How old was Sydney when you got her? Has she had any formal obedience training? If so, what methods were used: 1) dominance/pack leader, 2) treats/"positive" training, or 3) drive training? Have she and Sydney been spayed? Has Jackson been neutered? When you say you have "tried everything to try to get her to stop," what kinds of things, specifically, have you done? Do you ever play tug-of-war with Sadie?

Meanwhile take the two girls on long walks together every day in as natural a setting as possible. This is very important. I would also spend some time each day playing tug-of-war with Sadie outdoors; you should play just with her, no other dogs around. These things may not be the total solution, but they'll help you get a good start.

I look forward to hearing back from you. And I hope I can help.
