Introducing 8 wk. standard English Bully (male) to 7 mo. English mini-bully (female)

Question
My wife and I added an 8 wk. old male (standard) English bulldog to the family. We had our 7 mo. old female mini-bully meet him earlier at a nuetral location and they got along fine. However, once we arrived home, our female obviously became more playful and dominating. She loves rolling on her back in front of him and paws at his face repeatedly. This totally irritates him. I understand the pecking order in packs and I allow the play to continue, but at times it escalates. There are other times the male had enough and walks away, but the female follows right behind and pounces on him. Again irritating him. It seems as thought the older female is enjoying the hazing she does to the younger, but stronger willed male stands his ground and begins to bark and bite her. When would be the right time to break them up and what do we need to do afterwards?. The youner male bully just doesn't back down and I don't want him to turn into an aggresive dog. A lot of mouthing each other and my wife and I don't know if either of them will get injured. Hoping for some advice. Thanks!

Answer
Probably a lot of it is letting them find their places with each other and normal play. When you see the little pup getting overwhelmed, I'd redirect the older puppy to give him a break. I'd also do a lot of side-by-side walking and on-leash obedience with them. Remember, your female is a puppy too, and probably doesn't realize the size difference. So you may need to protect him.
