dog is now afraid of food bowl

Question
My dog recently became very afraid and timid around his food bowl. Same bowl he drinks water out of w no hesitation, but for some reason he is scared of the food. We tried differnt bowls in differnt feeding places, but can't seem to get past this. If I wet the food it seems to be irresistable and he'll eat it (with slight hesitation), but if its dry, now way. Any idea how to get past this?

Answer
Have you tried changing his food?  Sometimes, dogs have food sensitivities and become reluctant to eat the food that has made them feel bad (a lot of dogs are sensitive to chicken, corn, wheat, soy - a high quality premium food without a lot of grain and with a different protein source might help).  By wetting the food, you change the scent slightly, so that may be why he's ok eating if it's wet, but he still may recognize it as the offensive food if it's dry.
