Relentless Kitten

Question
You recently answered a question about a kitten that plays too rough with an older cat.  You recommended separation until the kitten calms down.  I have the same problem.  Is this a stage?  Will there ever be peace?

Answer
Hi Kevin,

Another expert answered the question you are referencing but yes, the kitten will calm down (eventually!).

What seems rough to us is not really to another cat. The older cat wouldn't play with the younger cat (rough or not) if she didn't want to. As long as there is not blood being shed or serious fur flying then let them be unless the older cat has her ears back. Growling, hissing, and slapping is 'kitty communication'.

Getting your kitten fixed will also help the situation. A lot of times how the older cat reacts is just for show. When you are not around, they probably sleep together.

Let me know how they do.
