Urinating and defecating in inappropriate places

Question
I have had my cat for about a year and a half. Within the last few months he has started to urinate and defecate on my bed. I moved into a new apartment about 6 months ago. I thought that might be the problem but it's only been a few months ago that he has started doing this. He was spraying all over the house,so I had him nuetered about 3 weeks ago. The vet told me to use Feline Pine litter while he was healing. He used the litter just fine so I have continued to use the same litter. I have also used Nature's Miracle but he still goes to the bathroom on my bed. I have heard that if your cat is mad at you he will do this, but he gets a lot of love and attention. He always has food, fresh water, and a clean litter box. Any suggestions or reasons that he would be doing this would be extremely helpful. Thank you in advance for your time and any help that you can offer me.

Answer
Haley,

Yes, ususally that is the behavior when they are upset about something, not necessarily made at YOU. Are there any stray cats he can see out the window but can't get to? I would also change the litter back to the regular kind, or try some children's play sand one time. You can get it at Home Depot or other building supply store. And get a bigger litterbox with deeper litter. Also put in in a private place and not out in the open. If he uses the litterbox then, then you will know that was the problem.

Even though he has been neutered, especially if it was a recent neuter, some cats still have the 'male mentality' and will react to a female in heat somewhere in the neighborhood (even inside cats). What he is doing is one reaction if he can't get outside.

Here are some links that should be helpful also regarding improper elimination: (copy and paste, or type the whole link into your address bar)
