Question
Hi, i have 3 cats, 2 females and 1 male. I have no problems with the female cats, but my male cat Bubble i have a few problems with. Firstly he bites when he wants fuss, or is happy, particularly at night time, also he has started to urinate around the house, he is nearly a year old, and we hope it will stop after he is neutered, but the main thing is that he likes to sleep next to or on my face, and i have a baby due in 7 weeks time, and i'm worried about obviously that he might do the same to the baby. please help. Sarah

Answer
Sarah,

Getting Bubble fixed will help his territorial spraying, but get it done as soon as possible. Also after it is done be prepared for your cats to hiss at him and carry on because of the smells he will bring home from the vet's office will make them think he is a new cat. It will wear off and things will get back to normal.

About the cat sleeping on or near your face: you let that habit start so you need to break it. Let him know that you don't like it and won't let him do it any more. Make him sleep at the end of the bed. You need to keep forcing him away from your head area and be consistant about it.

About biting: if the cat is on your lap or next to you and he bites then say loudly "don't bite!" and dump him on the floor and ignore him for a bit. Then pick him up again and pet him. If he bites again then dump him again and say "don't bite!". He will start associating biting with not getting petted and dumped on the floor and will eventually quit doing it.
