Question
Hello, Ive had my cat from kitten on up, she is now 4 yrs old. I must start off by saying she is a scaredy cat..literally, She is afraid of EVERYTHING.Even other people. Everyone doesnt even believe we have a cat. We got a new cat from a friend who previously lived with other cats.We did the whole nine yards with the separation and everything your suppossed to do. It has been about a month now. However, the new cat hides all the time. And when the new one comes up to her (the other one is a He)., She still growls and hisses and he doesnt do anything just turns and walks away and lays down somewhere. Its gotten to the point where she lives under the bed now. Ive never seen her go potty and she hasnt eaten anything for days. Plus she SCREAMS LOUDLY at me and my husband when we even try to pet her. Please help us. We love them both. Signed crying inside.

Answer
Angel,

Sometimes it just isn't meant to work out. Maybe it would be best for the new cat's happiness to take her back where she has friends and knows the people and place.

It sounds like she is very depressed. It isn't just getting to know a new cat, it's getting to know new people, a new routine, there are new smells, and a new home. About the only thing you can do if you want to continue trying is let her live in her 'safe' room. Put a litterbox in there with her food and water and let her set her own pace on when she feels comfortable enough to come out.

Sit in the room and talk to her gently but do not try to pet her until she comes to you. Give her some yummy kitty treats too.

I hope this helps.
