Question
we have 2 cats...one is the mother and the other the daughter..Everytime the daughter goes near the mother she swipes, growls and hissies at her,Even when they are eating the food the mother demands that she has the foods and swipes the daughter! what can be done to stop this?

Answer
Tina,

If they aren't both spayed yet, I would get it done. That helps a lot of behavior problems.

Cats are like people, some have personality clashes too. It may be that the mother is the dominant one and head of the pecking order and she is exerting her 'authority' over the younger one. Swipes, growls, and hisses are normal 'kitty communication' which the daughter understands, and as long as no blood is being shed, or major fur flying, then that is probably how the relationship between them will be, and it's nothing to be too worried about. You can't 'make' them be friends. Cats do not have any concept of 'family' so after a kitten is weaned, they cease to become mother and daughter, and are just 2 cats familiar with each other.

I would feed the mom and daughter in separates places, or at least in separate bowls or dishes, to prevent the behavior you mentioned.
